37e Finale des Jeux de l’Acadie

At the 37th annual ‘Jeux de l’Acadie’, held in Caraquet, NB, from June 30 to July 2, 2016, an Active Life component was introduced: “As a result of the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model, the active living component focuses on participation and the importance of active and healthy living.”

Dr. Linda Dalpé was responsible for the component. Her team, which included a kinesiologist, prepared a day on physical activity for a sports season and off-season.

A second day, led by a dietitian, was based on: Eating on the road … at the convenience store, ‘refueling’ after a game, portions, keeping hydrated during physical activity and a 3-2-1-Go! Method.

A third day enabled the participants to identify and develop an active life action project which they would like to see happen in their community.  Dr. Dalpé’s team prepared leaflets and video capsules, along with the video committee at the Polyvalente Louis-Mailloux, as an educational support.
